The Applications Engineering Drafter generates specifications for custom single-use systems utilized within the biopharmaceutical industry. Assists in the quotation process thereof and transfer of approved designs to the manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Generates product specification prints for single-use systems via the use of specially configured AutoCAD software package per instruction from the Applications Engineering department.
  • Ensures a coordinated approach to product design consistent with customer requirements and best practices.
  • Handles modifications of existing single-use systems designs per defined workflow.
  • Facilitates the transfer of approved specifications to the production environment.
  • Assists in the quotation process of custom single-use systems.
  • Works with the Production team to understand manufacturing, assembly and packaging operations.

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Specific proficiency with MS Office products including Excel and Outlook.
  • Great Communication and Teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage individual workload and meet team deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of bioprocessing preferred.
  • Minimum Second Level Leaving Certificate with Third Level College or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Level 7, Level 8 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical communication from customers, sales and internal engineering resources.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to define problems and challenges within operating environment and ultimately draw valid conclusions.
  • Some Familiarity with 3D modelling Software platforms an advantage.

Physical Demands

Occasional work may be done in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Powder free gloves, face masks, hairnets, gowns, and shoe covers must be worn. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only non-smokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom. As a result, the successful candidate must be a nonsmoker.
