Do you love the idea of working with passionate and professional engineers in an environment dedicated to bringing products from idea to full-scale manufacturing? Are you excited to identify details that significantly impact efficiency and design products which have a positive impact on the human condition?

Who is Meissner?

The goal at Meissner is to be more than simply good; it is to be extraordinary. Extraordinary performance comes from extraordinary people.

Meissner as a group is passionate about helping our clients manufacture lifesaving and life-enhancing drugs, therapies, and vaccines. We develop, manufacture, supply, and service advanced microfiltration products and single-use systems worldwide.

We know that when you are passionate about what you do, it’s more than just a job.

Meissner is focused on the development of the whole individual, and we have programs and tools in place to help us stay at our best mentally and physically. In alignment with our commitment to support the growth and development of the whole individual, Meissner has inaugurated a Learning and Development department to solely focus on cultivating our team. When you grow, we grow.

How you will make an impact:

As an Advanced Product Engineer at Meissner, you will play a critical role in driving the design,
testing, and release of complex products and subsystems that support biopharmaceutical
manufacturing. Leveraging your technical depth and project execution skills, you will
independently lead development efforts, coordinate with suppliers and internal teams, and
ensure designs are manufacturable, verifiable, and ready for production. This role requires
strong ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to deliver high-quality engineering
outcomes across multiple development efforts.

  • Lead development of robust mechanical designs by selecting and executing appropriate design approaches that balance technical performance, manufacturability, and program timelines. Interface closely with suppliers to support design feasibility, tooling development, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Own development of complex molded parts or assemblies, including tooling strategy and defining tolerance schemes in consideration of process capability.
  • Lead development of mechanical subassemblies by sourcing components and designing systems while managing assembly sequence, serviceability, and tolerance stack-ups across interfacing parts.
  • Lead quick and agile prototyping efforts, rapidly identifying workable paths based on key technical and timeline constraints. Efficiently design and effectively execute lean testing and experiments (DOE) to evaluate concepts.
  • Lead supplier identification and coordination for complex or customized products/components, ensuring alignment with performance and cost goals. Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers to support both current projects and future needs.
  • Independently develop and execute qualification and validation protocols. Analyze and interpret results to confirm production capability and process stability. Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to determine Proven Acceptable Ranges (PAR) and verify Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs).
  • Author and execute bioprocessing capital equipment FAT, SAT, and IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts for complex technical issues affecting product performance,
testing activities, or project execution. Conduct structured root cause investigations and
evaluate corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate with engineering and cross-functional teams to implement solutions and prevent recurrence.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on all technical aspects of the product lifecycle for
products developed in this role and be familiar with multiple product lines. Can present
and defend application-specific use of these products, articulating capabilities and limits.
  • Lead the requirements gathering process for complex projects, identifying critical
constraints and translating stakeholder needs into actionable solution criteria and
    engineering specifications.
  • Designs and builds assemblies within CAD/PDM system, assigning the proper properties
and categories. Strong understanding of the design review process and PDM
workflows. Utilizes a working knowledge of industry standards and Product Engineering
standards for designs/drawings. Able to review other engineers' submissions, acting as a
Checker for submitted designs and drawings through the PDM system.

This is an on-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA.

The skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical or Manufacturing.
  • 4+ years of working experience as an engineer or a related position.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Product Engineer, or
similar role supporting the design, development, or release of physical products is
required. Experience in a related position in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is
    preferred but not required
  • Strong ability to independently manage complex development workstreams, balancing
design, supplier, and testing activities to deliver engineering milestones on schedule.
  • Strong analytical abilities: Define problems, collect data, interpret complex technical
instructions, and draw valid conclusions, diagnosing root causes and evaluating tradeoffs across competing technical constraints, and guiding others through complex or
ambiguous technical challenges. Attention to detail is critical for life-saving drug
    production processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software to develop and refine complex designs across multiple
product lines, and MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with
project management software such as Microsoft Project is preferred.
  • Experience applying AI-based development tools effectively, with sound judgment on
appropriate use within development workflows, is preferred.
